Detecting edges
ML Kit adds about 0.27 MB; OpenCV adds roughly 25 MB per ABI and detects better. The kit documents both figures with their baseline so the choice is informed.
Which contour is the document and which corner is top-left are the kit's decisions, not the library's — written in pure Kotlin and covered by tests.
Users can correct the detected quadrilateral, with movement rules that reject degenerate shapes before they reach the export.
Deskew and crop to a clean rectangle, with size recipes for the common paper formats.
English, German, French and Turkish, with a canonical-text mechanism that flags every translation whose English source has changed.
273 tests and a verification layer whose own checks are probed against broken fixtures — because the checks are where defects concentrate.
On-device document capture for Android: detect the page, let the user correct the corners, deskew it, and export a clean result. Nothing leaves the device.
This kit is still in development. The engine layer, corner adjustment and the four language sets are in place; instrumentation on physical hardware and the store materials are not finished yet.
